Knysna Oyster Festival 2026

The Knysna Oyster Festival runs for ten days each July in the town of Knysna on South Africa’s Garden Route. Getting there and getting around

Knysna sits on the N2 Garden Route highway between George (approximately 80 km west) and Plettenberg Bay (approximately 35 km east). George Airport is the nearest commercial airport, served by daily flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg. From George, the drive to Knysna takes about an hour.

During the festival, Knysna’s narrow main road and limited parking infrastructure struggle with the volume of visitors. Most people park at designated festival parking areas on the outskirts and walk or take shuttle buses into town.
